You may log in to LinkedIn out of curiosity when someone adds you, or maybe just to scroll down the homepage and check out some posts about business; others may log in to hunt for jobs or maybe just update their career and professional information and stay updated about people they know.
Let me be honest with you, before digging into LinkedIn and starting UpGrey; our marketing agency, I didn’t have a clue what I was missing out on this amazing platform! Here’s what I found out. Let me hammer you with some numbers first!

The first fact you should face (a positive one!) is that LinkedIn is the largest professional network on planet earth right now. And yes, you should be optimistic about it! With more than 467 million professionals on LinkedIn (updated: 27 Oct 2016) and I might as well be mistaken here, why? Well, because 2 new users sign up to LinkedIn each second! (Yes, each second, two users just signed up right now! :) )

Why am I soooo Excited about LinkedIn?
It’s not just the number of users! It’s who these users are. 77% of these users are 25 years old and above, what does that mean? Well, I think the older you get the more experienced you are, the more decisions you are entrusted, which makes you, well, the “decision maker”, an important person to reach out to when doing business. These users are daily on LinkedIn, well maybe not daily, but you know what I mean. And you might be thinking right now that something can be done to reach out to these “decision makers” and turn them into leads! You’re right! That’s exactly what I want you to see in this article! To simplify things here, you can and should turn these users into leads. Then turn these leads into clients (duh!) it’s a long process I know, but it is so much worth it!
Let’s go back in time now. Years ago, B2B marketing was not that focused on generating leads through social media. But things have changed, big time! Check out the facts below:
Today, 80% of the B2B marketing leads from social media are generated through LinkedIn. If this number didn’t move you, let me say it this way: each 10 B2B leads generated from social media (any social media platform like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn…), 8 of these 10 leads are generated only through LinkedIn. For this reason, 92% of the B2B marketers use LinkedIn for their B2B marketing campaigns, and at UpGrey, we use LinkedIn primarily for our lead generation marketingcampaign.
You can say that nearly all B2B marketers use LinkedIn! It’s also vital to mention that marketers see 28% less cost per lead on LinkedIn than through Google AdWords. It’s not just more effective, it’s even cheaper!

Now let me be clear on this, I’m not saying other platforms are bad for generating leads and new sales opportunities for your business.
