NFL Becomes Most Viewed Channel On GIPHY w/ 12 Billion+ Views

It’s Super Bowl week — which means we’re days away from crowning this year’s champion. And while we’ll have to wait until Sunday to see if the Patriots will repeat, or if the Eagles will upset the defending champs, we do know one thing: the NFL has already won the GIF game as the most viewed verified channel on GIPHY with over 12 Billion views. That’s billion.

That’s because this season the focus was all about entertainment. Together, the NFL and GIPHY made sure fans had thousands of GIFs to watch and share, highlighting the great moments and emotions that happen in the stands, on the sidelines, and in the endzone.

“We’re excited to see that the NFL has the most viewed channel on GIPHY,” said Blake Stuchin, NFL VP of Digital Media Business Development. “Our fans are incredibly passionate, and every day millions of them are sharing GIFs on GIPHY to express their fandom and talk with their friends. From funny moments to confused reactions to epic touchdown celebrations — fans are increasingly talking with an NFL GIF.”

Their huge success on GIPHY really is a testament to how the NFL has enhanced the fan experience by allowing users to access this huge library of content through GIPHY’s extensive distribution platform. And the enormous amount of views they’ve generated (defined as a single load instance of a GIF, not each cumulative loop) indicates just how much NFL fans have responded to watching and using this content on a daily basis.

“The NFL entertains fans on game day. GIPHY amplifies and extends that entertainment by making it part of communication for fans all over the internet. Together, we make the game a part of every day,” says GIPHY’s Director of Business Development, Blake Rachowin.

Wondering which team leads the pack for GIF views? We got you covered. Unsurprisingly, the Patriots and the Eagles (in that order) are at the top of the list, with the Green Bay Packers, Seattle Seahawks and Pittsburgh Steelers rounding out the top 5.

And while Super Bowl LII will surely provide some amazing moments that you’ll be sure to see everywhere, we thought we’d celebrate this major milestone by showcasing the top 10 GIFs of the 2017 NFL season.
