Starting at 4:45 am PST today, the Freshdesk.com website and the app is under attack by certain unethical hackers who are demanding money from us to stop this attack. There have been similar attacks in the past against reputed companies like Basecamp and Meetup.

Our team is working on mitigating these attacks and restore services. We would like to assure our customers that the attack is happening at the network layer — that is between the Internet and our Servers. Our app and customer data is safe and secure. The only problem is because of these attacks our customers will have problem accessing freshdesk.

We will continue to post updates on Twitter and we are working on this with the highest priority to restore services back to normal. I apologize to our customers for the inconvenience caused. I would also like to appeal to all of our customers to support us while we fight these criminals. We do not want to negotiate with these cyber terrorists and pay the ransom to encourage this as a profitable business model for unethical hackers.

Update: As of 5:30 am PST the Freshdesk app is up and should be accessible for all customers. We are still working on restoring access to the website

Update 2: As of 5:45 am PST the Freshdesk website is also up. We are monitoring all services to ensure that things are back to normal
