Why Girlscript? Why in Kochi?
Girlscript is India’s first and fastest growing tech community of Indian origin. It is an open for all organization and supports beginners in technology and programming.
But then why the name Girlscript?
It is because we have a 50% reservation for women and LGBT+ communities in all our events. We feel such a name would make women more comfortable in participating and it makes them feel that they have a say in the decision making process.
We have our communities all over India like Agra, Delhi, Bangalore etc.
And now we are in Kochi!
Why kochi ?
Kochi , the queen of the Arabian Sea, the land of cultures is also the land of techies and tech communities. Kochi flourishes with large varieties of Tech communities and organizations that empower a lot of people to take up opportunities in tech related fields. It a city where most of the top tier hackathons and tech events are hosted.Even though we feel that there’s more than enough tech communities in Kochi, there is a lack in women and LGBTQ+ friendly tech communities where women and LGBTQ+ communities are given equal importance.We have a lack of community in Kochi where a woman is given a role in the decision making process.
Girlscript Kochi aims to fill that void. Girlscript is one of the most beginner friendly organization. We felt that the organisations in Kochi seemed to be “out of reach” for a beginner. So Girlscript aims to reach out to the beginners.
We want to empower everyone who is interested in Tech to come up and code for a brighter and better future.We’ll be regularly conducting workshops and talks at high schools and colleges all over Kochi to empower the future generation to develop their technical skills, innovate and inspire others.We’ll also be conducting Hackathons which will enable people (especially students from various domains and talent) to come together and build innovations for a better tomorrow.

LetsPy
LetsPy is a two day boot camp for the people who are new to the Python language or want to brush up their skills in the same. This is especially for the people from tier- two and tier- three cities in India who do not have enough resources to learn the language or don’t get the time to do so.
GirlScript Summer Of Code(GSSOC)
GirlScript Summer of Code, the flagship event of Girlscript, is a 3 month long Open Source program during summers conducted by GirlScript Foundation, along with a huge list of partners started in 2018, with an aim to help beginners get started with Open Source Development while encouraging diversity. Throughout the program, participants contribute to different projects under guidance of experienced mentors. Top participants get exciting goodies and opportunities.
GirlScript India Summit is our Annual and biggest celebration of technology, talent, entrepreneurship and diversity. It a Two Days Event including hackathon, Tech-Talks, Workshops.
Codepreneur Week
Codepreneur is one week fully funded residential learning and interacting program for students across India.
For every track, 25 students will be selected for which GirlScript foundation will sponsor.
