Cutting Aid to Poor Kids to Punish Parents into Working is Batshit Evil

There is no ethical argument that can be made to justify cutting aid to low-income children. And yet that’s what is presenting being discussed in the halls of government. Says Reuters:

“U.S. President Donald Trump will request a package of $15 billion in spending cuts from Congress on Tuesday, including some $7 billion from the Children’s Health Insurance Program championed by Democrats, senior administration officials said on Monday.”

This is weird since it’s actually not the President’s federal function to dictate budgetary concerns to Congress. According to the system of checks and balances delineated in the United States Constitution, Congress is delegated authority to tax and spend, what is commonly recognized as the power of the purse.

Right, so we have a President telling Congress to stop funding programs for poor children even though that’s not even his job. He’s going out of his way to breach the bounds of his office to make children suffer.

That is quite literally how I’ve always defined batshit evil: someone going out of their way to make children suffer. This is the exact same definition of batshit evil I use when I criticize Bill Clinton, who in 1996, effectively killed child welfare policy in America to make peace with bullies.
