Why is It Ok for Marco Rubio’s Parents to Leave Cuba to get Rich but a Campaign Issue when Honduran Kids Do It to Stay Alive?

I need to know.

I need to know how Rubio can think it’s at all ethical to say he wants to crack down on protections for immigrant children when his parents enjoyed the privileges of political refugee status.

Because here’s how I see it:

America was fighting an ideological pissing contest with the Soviets and basically welcomed in any Cuban family who could get here as a big ol’ Fuck You to Communism as a gratuitous spectacle of public relations. No one cared if they took jobs away from anyone because they were a marketing ploy for Red, White and Blue Capitalism.

Now, though, we have over 70,000 starving orphans marching on foot from Honduras, Guatamala and El Salvador, fleeing civil disorder and drug wars that have killed their parents, leaving them bereft of property and community, unable to care for themselves.

And they are marching on foot to America for the same refugee status we once gave Rubio’s parents.

Except these kids weren’t lucky enough to be born under the stars of our ideological enemies.

No, these kids had the shit luck of being born under failed states we pretty much did everything in our power to destroy for them.

They get no special treatment.

After they march through thousands of miles of warfucked wasteland and finally reach our border, they’re treated as worse than criminals by assholes like Texas Governor Rick Perry who are not beneath throwing defenseless and starving children under the bus to send a comforting message to intellectually lazy white people who revel in their political leaders being callous blowhards.

Many of these young kids, both boys and girls, are being raped along this march and many others are being sold into sex trafficking.

They are hungry.

They are tired.

They are resourceless.

They have no homes to be deported back to.

They are looking to Big America to save them not because they have sights set on our jobs but because they’re children, children weened on the international myth that we ourselves spend trillions a year fighting bullshit wars and funding insurgents trying to propagandize: that America cares about the defenseless.

But no. We have hypocritical assholes like Marco Rubio who want to shut the gates that let his parents in because he can’t assume the moral authority to tell his lazy white constituents that we are responsible for a hemispherical crisis brought on by Reagan’s inept interventions in Central and South America. That our moral fuckery back then pays moral dividends carried to us on the backs of innocent children looking for hope from a nation that is turning its back on them for polling points.

These kids deserve refugee status by every measure of international law but are being literally sacrificed in the name of Marco Rubio’s narcissistic ambition.

So I don’t know, Marco, what’s good?
