What Childhood Toy Did You Want But Never Receive?
Nicole Dieker

I wanted an American Girl doll super bad. I could never decide if I wanted Kirsten (because she was Swedish, like my grandma’s side of the family) or Felicity (because she had the best clothes). I got neither but over time bought all of Kirsten’s or Felicity’s books. And a set of paper dolls for each of them!

My grandma offered, if I saved up half the money, to pay for the other half of the doll. But when you’re 10, $40-something dollars may as well be a million dollars! I looked over the catalog when it came and read American Girl magazine (another gift from Grandma) for new stories. I turned out ok.
