Why never give up a Dream
Choose to live a Life you can be proud of
“Dreams do come true, if only we wish hard enough. You can have anything in life if you will sacrifice everything else for it.” ― J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan
Many times is so hard to fight for something in which you so intensely believe. People, particularly your beloved ones, just go on asking to touch it, but a dream isn’t anything of tangible until you fulfill it.
But there is no guide that teaches you, how to make it true. Your only option is believing in it and do not let the skepticism of the others make you doubt the clarity of your vision.
Everyone of us obviously love the stories of successful people, who had been able of achieving amazing goals despite the distrust in their projects and the lack of money; but we wouldn’t like the same with a different end.
Usually, our focus is on the ultimate success and not on the long history of failures that precede it. At the top of the mountain these people showed they were right, but during the rock climbing they were alone with all the responsibility onto their shoulders and every time they fell down, there always was someone ready to shoot them a: “I had warned you”.
At the moment, I’m the one who is climbing towards the peak and neither me or anyone else might guarantee me how much time I’ll spend to reach it. Maybe it might be my whole life. Nonetheless I will never find it out if I assume that the obstacles my project is dealing with can’t be overcome. I’m teaching my mind to look at them as Life’s challenges to try out my determination, persistence and creativity in accomplishing this project; since getting mad at incidents over which I have no control at all, won’t help me in anyway.
I’m absolutely not a religious person, although I believe that there is a right time when some happenings are meant to be and I guess that we’ve to benefit of the waiting to prepare ourselves to it.
I know that “waiting” has a bad reputation in the business world, that privileges “hyperproductivity” of ants; nevertheless this is a principle of the food production process, because plants and animals have their time to grow, that obviously in the intensive systems are accelerated, but with which impact on our health and on the environment?
We can’t force the speed of certain natural processes without affecting the balances that rule the ecosystems, where they occur. For example, in Aquaponics you have to wait for one month before the system is active — since there is the right number of bacteria populations settled in the growbed. Most of the beginners don’t respect this time of the bacteria flourishing and screwed the balances between bacteria, plants and fish, that die because of the high concentration of toxins in water.
In these last weeks, I have been practicing mindfulness for 40 Minutes in the morning, before to start to work. There is one podcast that I particularly love, that is entitled: “Trust the journey” by the Mindful Movement.
Why am I telling you all that? Because what I’m learning by this experience is that to become an entrepreneur, you need a strong Faith in the added values that your project will provide for the communities to which is addressed. If you haven’t enough of it, your idea will shipwreck if the circumstances would turn against it.
But if your Faith in your Dream is tough as the barriers on your path and flexible to the wind changes, you will face anything with a smile on your face and a promise of growth in your Future.
“The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease for ever to be able to do it.” ― J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan
Presumably now anyone of you is asking yourself: “Why shall I listen to a 25-year-old woman, who is at the beginning of her journey?”
And of course, you’d be right. I don’t know why you should. The aim of this article is sharing with you my thoughts and the interpretation of my journey into the business world. I guess, I’m stepping forward on the right path because I’m following my instincts, so as I’m learning how to become an entrepreneur through trial and error and listening for mentors’ advice, while I’m creating a company. At the end, none can teach me how to be successful in an innovative business like mine, in a Country like Italy, working with out-of-the-box scientists and with purpose to address a part of the profits to help weak social groups to start and run their own Aquaponics facility. I can just believe beyond any doubt that I’m the right person in the right place and moment to achieve these goals. At the moment the numbers on my business plan worksheets are the only concrete facts that agree with me.
My family and friends are confiding in me, despite they’ve not my Faith and they always ask me for certainties that just time will give them. Anything could happened to overturn the cards on the table. Life is unpredictable. You have control just over our attitude towards it. There’re so many exogenous factors that might interfere with the implementation of your plan and you can’t be stubborn in front of adversities, but adapt our strategies to the incoming impediments. Or rather, you should take advantage of them, since every closed door might be an opportunity to proof your audacity and challenge your limiting beliefs.
It’s funny that most of us never question the time is left to us to live, but we don’t have the same certainty on achieving our Dreams. We’re worried for earning enough money to satisfy the requirements of ourselves and our families and not for living a Life we can be proud of, because we wrongly assume that we’ve plenty of time for that.
I’m absolutely not a wealthy person, so I’m not talking without a knowledge of the facts. Here in Italy, things are getting ugly. Many of us are unemployed and the racism is spreading around the Country against the migrants, who are trapped here or deported in Libya’s prisons (service for which the EU pays to this dictatorship’s Government). The population is cleaving into Civil Rights’ defenders on one side, and the Anti-migrants on the other. This is not happening just here, I know, but Italy’s shores are the unique, possible landfall of their Hopes. The risk of forgetting that they belong to humankind as much as we do is concrete.
We can’t fix this human tragedy, without creating new jobs and opportunities, both for Italians and migrants.
From my own experience, I believe that a meaningful, dignified job is a social unifying. Working side by side, there will be no stranger anymore, only men and women with a Dream to share together.
It might sound kind of utopian to you; nevertheless every quite-impossible venture that the humankind had dreamed about, after several failures had been realized by anyone. And what does it prevent you or me to be this person in our Age? Only the Faith and the Will of not surrender in front of the adversities, but learning through them.
We’re the flame that burns in our hearts and the stars that arise in our minds.
So, why never give up a Dream?
I beg you friend, be happy. I have the vague sense that on your capacity to be happy hangs our only hope. ― Milan Kundera, Slowness
