VS code is very different than VS studio. It’s a lightweight editor, tailored to js and front-end with numerous extensions, git intergration (you might also want to check out gitkraken for a gui client) and best of all: intellisense. Also the build-in terminal and the build options along with gulp is a joy to use and frees up considerable time. Microsoft has really stepped up its game with this one and I left sublime text behind with no regrets. And mind you, I was a user given to customising the editor with numerous packages. VS Code was very good and stable from the get go and became excellent with a couple of extensions. All of that for free of course.

Give it a try, it’s worth it.
