When to stop hitchhiking
When I put my backpack on five weeks ago I didn’t know for how long I want to travel. It’s the first travel I traveled without deadline. And I loved it. Well, most of the time :)
I decided that I’ll carry on until I’ll hit three days in a row when each evening I’d feel like stopping. Why three days? Because hitchhiking isn’t always smooth and you might have days when all you want to do is quit and go home. Sometimes sorrow feeling survives until next day so you might feel down for two days but it’s not the right time to quit. You’ll regret it afterwards for making a decision on a whim.
If desire for dropping out persists for three days you must have deeper reason to go home. Yesterday was the third day I wanted to go home. I’m beaten from travel, camping in wild places and surfing. I’m happy, fulfilled and with burning feeling to get back to building things.
The biggest luxury of traveling without deadline is that you can set it any day. Mine is tonight.
Until next time rainy Lisbon!
