I love Kate’s message about how Formation isn’t for us. I absolutely agree, and am likewise “cheering from the bleachers” for this moment in American society. I also like Donna’s note about being cautious with reductive language for “Caucasians.” While some peoples’ ancestors were signing tabs in restaurants that didn’t allow colored people, mine were the victims of genocide in Europe. White skin does not equal Anglo-Saxan, and a lot of our families have gone through systematic horrors that are still affecting our relatives today. I think it is unfair to be called “butt hurt” when pointing out reductive language, because combating reductive language is a huge part of celebrating diversity.
