Onboarding absolutely needs more attention and interaction. The best onboarding experience I ever had was one where my manager sat with myself and other new hires for 3 weeks and created challenges for me to broach to see how I would work through them. The manager learned my learning style as I learned how to do the job, so it was a win-win!
Good for you for finding a way to pursue your dreams while working abroad. I am an entrepreneur and have worked all over the world and enjoy reading others stories about how they make this lifestyle work for them too. Best of luck in all of your endeavors!
These are all great resources and Tropical MBA has been one of my steady favorites for years. Also, I second the recommendation for ProBlogger as the other commenter suggested.
Thank you for highlighting the importance of mentorship as it was through the ages and the effect the lack of it at large has produced today. As some of the other readers pointed out, there are some factors overlooked, but I agree with your point that the availability and emphasis of the importance of mentorship has been a detriment to motivation, productivity, and even success to some degree. Powerful piece.
