I appreciate hearing your perspective. I have a reoccurring nightmare of a real event in the mid 1970’s where in the small town of Avery Idaho the kids in school linked arms followed me across a bridge chanting some inane slogan slinging foul epithets etc. etc. after discovering my family’s sabbath and holy day keeping habits. Intimidation and being bushwhacked beaten after school happened a number of times in various locations across the US. I keep my memories as a means to some insight into other peoples experiences of prejudiced. But I have also been beaten by a gang of Mexicans because I’m white and robbed and knocked unconscious by some blacks. My wife was gang raped twice by Mexicans. She doesn’t hate Mexicans, but recognize there’s good and bad among all people. I still want immigrants vetted, regardless of their extraction.
I didn’t vote for Trump because of race, but because the national debt has the potential to implode our economy and I view wealth creation as the only logical means for a family, a company or a nation to get out of debt. I want a school voucher system so the kids will be taught a value system not hostile to our religious views. I want the elimination of the Johnson amendment, I want an environment that promotes industry and fair competition. I want cultures to not be homogenized, to respect the wonderful variety and leave people the space to be different in spaces they acquire for their purposes e.g. a nudist colony for those who wish to not wear clothing. It’s polite to avoid offending people’s value systems, but it has been made abundantly clear that to offend one with a Jewish or Christian value system is just fine. The mockery and derision is never ending and ever present in the media and from the instructors in our schools.
I have constantly been called a member of the KKK and racist and presenting the facts has made no difference to the pointing fingers, and the angry faces behind the fingers rendering their judgements and saying I should be executed. I attended a Tea Party meeting, mostly normal older people with similar concerns, but we endured maniacal screaming by a huge group of chanting liberals who threatened violence. Race issues wasn’t even on the subject list, but we were labeled racists white supremacists in spite of the presence of a number of people of color. I’m sorry that some real white supremacists imagine that wanting boarder security is similar to what they want. It is not. I am repulsed that these people think we have values similar enough to where we can be associated in some way. This is their own illusion. I say no, I won’t except them. However the liberals I encountered remind me of the ones who were closing in on me as I crossed that bridge in Idaho, judging, hating, screaming. So this is my perspective.
