The failed experiment that changed the world
Ethan Siegel

Right up there with the double slit and Millikan's oil drop experiments. Ingenious designs that forever after illustrate the discoveries. I do question calling it a “failed experiment”. The measurement of ether drift was accurate, zero. The idea of “the” ether itself being zero’d as a result. Ethernet however is real so at least the name lives on. Thanks Ethan, for more science history.
