If you are a podcaster, you’ll definitely agree getting your podcast out there and hoping listeners will find it is just not enough. Even if you have a truly compelling content and you’ve worked with the best podcast editor to ensure your audio is exceptional, your efforts will prove futile if listeners don’t even know your podcast exists to begin with.

With the exception of celebrities and other known personalities, building a significant following overnight is not possible. Fortunately, there are several ways for you to establish a solid following given you make use of effective and superb promotion strategies available at your disposal.

If you are looking for powerful methods to kickstart your promotion efforts, the following should get your campaign off to an extraordinary start:

Collaborate with other podcasters

Check out other podcasts in your niche that your target audience might be interested in. Connect with the podcasters running them and aim to establish a good relationship with as many as possible.

Aside from you having people you can totally relate to and learn from, you might just also find people who would be willing to make an appearance on your show. If you get lucky, they might just return the favour and invite you to their show as well.

Run giveaways

Who doesn’t love giveaways and freebies? That being said, consider giving away podcast-related merchandise a wise move. Having your logo on the giveaways can also help cement brand recall so the strategy is definitely a win-win.

Jeffrey Powers from Geekazine shares that running a contest where you encourage your listeners to tweet and share a good word or two about your podcast would also be a good place to start.

You can also give away podcast merchandise to encourage more people to join. Giving away podcast merchandise is not only a creative way to promote your show, it is also an effective way to establish loyalty.

Go live with an audience

Max Flight of AirplaneGeeks believes your ability to connect with your audience can make a world of difference for your podcast. That being said, it would be best to exert every effort to make your show as creative, dynamic, and exciting as possible.

If you are feeling rather adventurous, consider doing a podcast with a live audience. If you already have a huge following, you can also invite a few of your listeners over and do a podcast with them. Doing a live question-and-answer segment is another creative spin you can look into.

Use social media to your advantage

The power of social media cannot be overstated. In line with this, use social media to inform family, friends, and followers about new episodes you will be releasing. You can also post memorable tweets on your Twitter account and experiment with Facebook live if you’re more comfortable connecting with your audience through video.

You can also add a link to your podcast in your Google and LinkedIn profiles to make it easy for your followers on those platforms to get access to new episodes. If you have a lot of followers on YouTube, posting video recordings of new episodes would be an awesome idea.

What promotion methods do you swear by? How has it helped significantly increase your number of followers?
