    What really killed NYC nightlife.

(hint: it wasn’t Giuliani)I started going out in NYC in the late 70's and then moved to NYC in 1983…prime-time nightlife: Studio 54, Odeon, Palladium, Area, Nell’s, Jackie 60, and the list goes on. These were places full of life, creativity, and a total mix of people. People lament the lost “good old days (nights?)” of NYC, and typically the blame starts with Rudy Giuliani: the clamp-down on drugs and underage drinking, noise abatement, harassment of club kids and other denizens of the night.

Some people demand signed non-disclosure agreements before they will tell you their idea. I’m not one of them any more and here’s why.
