Interesting point, James. I still stand by that last remark in my essay. Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Africa has reached the highest level in a decade and is set to reach an estimated USD$80b this year. Africa is home to ten of the world’s fifteen fastest growing economies, and is going to continue to receive considerable FDI. Foreign investment will be a large contributor to Africa’s economic development, and is one of the types of foreign aid I refer to in the essay.
