Honor that “free” in freelancer

Jurgen left his job in a large internet firm 2 years ago, because he wanted more freedom. Freedom to organise his life, travel more than his allocated 4 weeks holiday, and work from home.

Not being tied down 9–5 has been great. He has become a freelance contractor, still working partly for the same company, but also marketing his services to new customers. As internet services is a global business, some of his prospect customers are all over the world, that’s fine modern communications mean he can call them from home, at any time, and make that connection.

But sometimes, a personal connection counts — that’s when he just needs to plan some travel, and hop on a low cost airline across the continent, to meet someone in person. Or market himself by appearing at a conference, or event abroad. The business is growing nicely, he has a really decent network, and referrals are helping bring in business.

But as a one person ‘company’ he needs to be organised to make the most of his time, and having a GLOBCOIN card has really helped.

Just having the card in his wallet means he doesn’t have to worry when someone says ‘let’s meet for a coffee?’ at short notice. Or when he needs to add an extra hotel night at the last minute, because a conference is going well. He can just load up his multi-currency card in advance, and let it take care of his financial needs, allowing him to get on with business. As a freelancer, having anything that helps him freestyle and be flexible is great. He’s not tied in to the company’s timetable. And he’s not tied in to any one currency either. If the crypto world develops as quickly as his world is, he feel he’s up to date and covered — future proofing is what he needs, in every aspect of my life.
