What Happened To Our Movement?
Connor Kelly

This is a debate about what ‘woman’ means. Trans women aren’t female in the way the majority of the world understands it. But they can still be women, depending on how we define that label. We need to expand ‘woman’ rather than overwrite the way females currently identify themselves. We need to support the need for single sex female spaces — — but we also have to actively make sure this doesn’t leave trans women with nowhere to feel safe either. We have to go bigger and broader or go home, if we are going to protect everyone. I won’t give up my rights as a female and I won’t give up the words I want to use to define myself. But nor will I retain these at the expense of trans women. The current way of doing this is not adequate any longer for the people in our society, so we need to make new ways. And this will require funding.
