Doctor Manhattan: Philosophical determinism.

Doctor Manhattan, presented in the cinematic work ‘Watchmen’, philosophically follows a deterministic perspective. The character maintains that all natural causes are pre-existing from his viewpoint. Looking from this standpoint, free will becomes illusory and dubious, as all causes are predetermined due to previous causes. Given that the character experiences time in a non-linear manner, being able to see time in the past, present, and future, he suggests that he cannot alter the course of events previously experienced by individuals. Doctor Manhattan suggests that there is an objective reality regardless of human experience.
