America’s history has been told so many times in so many different ways with different view points of it, even with the facts in front starring you in the face. Twenty years ago, I woke up in my Western Civilization history class when the instructor of the class insisted that the book we we’re assigned to steady was wrong. “Right about now, I know what you are thinking”. Why would they teach you from a book that they consider wrong?” That made no sense, and neither did slavery”. Back to the instructor. He assigned the class to read chapter 1. Chapter 1 began in Upper Mesopotamia where Civilization began. The instructor said it did not matter what the book said, Civilization began in Greece. That was the beginning of my struggle to get a fair grade because of ones belief that had power of giving me a failing grade. I manage to get a C out of the class because I remain silent and let his belief be my guide to study from, no matter how confusing it was. The experience reminds of what is happening now, rather than facing the facts of history head on, and giving it the proper label to cause and effect, the behavior of tearing down statues that is insignificant to feelings towards each other here in America. My solution, is to let me sit on a panel to discuss history of where it all began. In this discussion there will be no room for Alternative facts.
