Tulips in watercolor drawn by me Gloria poole,RN,artist of Missouri
I drew these tulips to see if I could paint something that looked almost translucent and glowing. I was using a photo as reference. I signed it and put the date also, and photographed it, uploaded it and posted it to this platform of mine. I also updated my https://lifes-entertainmet.blogspot.com today w/ much info on the music and entertainment coming up in next two months.
I love tulips especially because they are grown primarily in the Netherlands and make fields of bright colors. It’s so different from the sort of crops grown in the southern states in the US. However, the South is resplendent with azaleas, roses and dogwood, and magnolia blooms certain times of the year. The southern US is one of the most beautiful places in the world in the spring. I think my love of flowers began there.
Of course, I draw often simply to not worry. I find it difficult to worry and draw at the same time. Drawing is not stressful to me as I learned to draw mechanical objects when I was in high school [ many years ago!] and I have drawn ever since. It’s counter-productive to worry for me at least. I know some art students say their classes are stressful but I never found it stressful. But I learned to draw what was put before me and to draw in perspective and to draw floor plans and architectural drawings. I’m told those are “different” from creative drawing. Perhaps. I also paint and sometimes I paint creatively. When I paint with oils on canvas it is usually creative. I may have seen something that I wanted to paint, or had an inspiration to paint.
As for what I have been worried about? Well, who isn’t worried about the news from all major sources about North Korea developing a hydrogen bomb bigger than the one the US dropped on Japan to end world war II? I researched that some today to try to get a grasp on the magnitude of it. Bloomberg reported that the hydrogen bomb North Korea is threatening US with is a 100 Kiloton bomb which is equivalent to 220,462,262.18 pounds of TNT. If you have ever watched in the news how demolition experts implode [take down] a building or bridge to rebuild it, you have some idea what TNT does. It is also used to open mountains for mining, or to blast away rock to put in interstates, etc.
I was thinking today if there is a way to prepare for the possibility of a hydrogen bomb dropped on US? When I was a student nurse [many years ago also] we studied radiation sickness along with the prevention of diseases and natural disasters/calamities and accidents also. What I can remember right off the top of my head, is, the more distance you can put between you and the spot the bomb detonated and the faster you can do that, the better off you are and the greater your chance of surviving it.
Other than buying a cement bunker underground somewhere, I’m not sure what else people can do to prepare. Radiation is in the air and the crater of an hydrogen bomb is about 5 miles in circumference. Everything within the immediate detonation area is incinerated instantly. Just gone! And as the radiation spreads the people within a certain radius of it, are saturated with radiation that causes radiation sickness and death. My advice to all Americans is to remember today is a National Day of Prayer as designated by Pres Donald Trump yesterday so pray that North Korea does not detonate a hydrogen bomb anywhere. And pray that our President has wisdom from GOD, and has excellent advisors in the Dept of Defense!
