There is one saying which keeps resonating in my head and which I love so much, it goes thus;

There is no BIG thing in life. Life is made up of little, little things which if put together would make up one big whole.

Life as a whole is made up of every fleeting second, of every ticking minute, of every short hour, of every passing day which culminates into months and then into years and then you have a whole life lived!

I believe in the power of everyday. I believe in the strength of every little step and toddle we take. I believe in the little efforts we make at showing love, at being better, at living more. Let’s say, I believe in little.

As an individual armed with this kind of belief, I live deliberately, every single day. I deliberately enjoy every moment. I’m alive and conscious as much as I can be, every passing moment. After all consciousness is the only true reality.

Consciousness is the only true reality.

Sometimes, when I step out of my home and have cause to use a tricycle, what in Nigeria is popularly called a “Keke” and which could be extremely slow! Instead of getting irritated with its slowpace and bored with the journey , I decide to cease the moment to notice and absorb the beautiful and ever green scenery of the city.

When I’m traveling from one State to the other, I deliberately stop to admire the beautiful landmark of my country, Nigeria. I stop my ever-flowing and ever-on-the-go thoughts to take note of the country’s wealth of land,Rocks and Rivers.

When oppurtuned to visit my family in Lagos. The house over there could be best described as a “nursery so full of children.” One could easily get a headache from the many screams, noise and excess of energy the children could get to exude. Instead of getting sick, I deliberately stop to let the chattering and noise the children make get to me. I go with the flow, I let the little sounds my toddler makes get to the heart of me and leave me excited. All these make me more and more grateful.

The city of Lagos in Nigeria is well known for her extremely busy nature and the accompanying traffic jams. This could easily inject stress into one’s soul,agreed. In Lagos, getting stucked in traffic is as common as a cup of morning tea. Why not transform such a moment spent in a terrific traffic jam to one which affords you an opportunity to absorb the strength and sweat of hardworking humans trying so hard to make ends meet?

Life is not made up of the big things. If you’re waiting for the great things to happen before you begin to enjoy this one life, then get ready to be super bored. Even the glamorous superstars we get to droll over on instagram have their everyday,ordinary and “real” lives.

The real life is in our everyday. Our everyday is our whole life in miniature. We shouldn’t let the busy activities of life stop us from living in the beautiful moments God brings our way while we live.

Pause. Breathe. Enjoy the moment you’re in.

Get deliberate about living everyday well. When you do so, you begin to live and not just exist.
