The problem with Google Glass as a product was that it was a solution to a non-existent problem. The market hadn’t shown any desire to ditch the traditional smartphone for a Glass-like UI, nor did Google give it a killer feature that could create demand. This time around, they seem to have taken a page from Apple’s playbook and are giving the headphones a killer feature (live translation) as well as tight integration with other more successful products. But as always, only time will tell.
