CS373 Fall 2018: Gerardo Mares
Week 2
September 3rd — September 9th
What did you do this past week?
This past was a pretty typical week, nothing much new or exciting than the week before, aside from the fact that I started working on Tuesday. I have also started doing a lot more interview preparation for the upcoming career fair and looking into where I want to be and what type of company I want to work for Full-Time, which is actually quite stressful to think about.
What’s in your way?
As of now, nothing is in my was as I’ve had prior experience with most of the materials and tools needed so far. I think one thing that is in my way is prioritization and scheduling. Since the semester just started I need to start figuring out a good schedule and routine so I don’t fall behind on assignments.
What will you do next week?
Next week I plan on hopefully getting the assignment started/finished up. Before that, however, I plan on getting more familiar with gitlab and do more python refreshing since I haven’t done much with it in a while. I plan to hopefully have a routine set up since I will be more used to my work and school schedules.
What’s your experience of the class?
This lectures this week have been engaging, very useful and a good refresher on some topics. Most of the information that we went over, I have had prior experience with but learning more about certain topics or tools is useful. Going over the first project Friday was the most useful I feel as I was a bit confused on what exactly was needed to be done for the assignment when I first looked at it. I also enjoy the demonstrations done in class regarding the various topics.
What’s your pick-of-the-week?
For this week, my pick of the week is this article on testing. It’s a pretty good article that would be useful to anyone who hasn’t had much or any experience in the past with writing unit tests for their code. I decided to include this because it might be useful for the upcoming assignment in the next week.
