Improving Storytelling for the Arts

If you pay attention to podcasts you’ve probably seen A Piece of Work popping up on new and notable lists. If not, it’s great. Go do yourself a favor and listen to it now, perhaps start with episode #3 on monochromes, Questlove, and silence.

I think what this represents is not just a charming podcast about contemporary art, but a model that any arts based institutions could use for communicating to a new audience. Take anything intimidating and unfamiliar (which could be most art), and offer a narrative that makes it approachable, relatable, and interesting. I’d love to hear this reinterpreted for a symphony or new music institution.
