I had to stop listening to this episode part way through the Doris conversation. I got this awful sick stabbing feeling in my stomach, kind of like the second-hand embarrassment you get when you’re watching a movie and someone gets up and sings off-key. But so much worse because it’s discomfort about some kindly old lady not humiliating herself in public, but losing all her money to a scam. And it’s real. It just made me feel so, so awful.
