Redesign of Google Map

In a world where digital navigation is an integral part of our daily lives, many of us have experienced the occasional frustration of getting lost despite relying on popular mapping apps like Google Maps.

During a recent road trip with friends, I found myself pondering the idea of redesigning Google Maps to incorporate Augmented Reality (AR) technology. The goal? To create an innovative and more user-friendly navigation experience that not only guides users efficiently but also transforms the mundane act of following directions into an engaging adventure also connects the local guide in a more gamified way.

The heart of this redesign revolves around integrating AR technology directly into the Google Maps interface. Picture this: a split-screen display featuring the traditional 2D map on one side and a live AR view on the other. The live view employs the device’s camera to provide a real-time perspective of your surroundings, making navigation more intuitive and interactive.

Improvement that I could have worked on

Enhanced Night Navigation — The AR camera will need adjust its display to provide clearer guidance in the dark, ensuring users can confidently navigate even in the absence of ample light.

Constant Notification for Road Awareness-In addition to visual guidance, users will have the option to enable constant notifications. These notifications will provide audio cues and haptic feedback, ensuring that drivers, especially during night-time or on dimly lit roads, can stay on course without needing to constantly glance at the screen.

The road ahead has never looked more exciting!
