Why is it so hard to have a single combined social media client?

I have spent some time looking for a social media client that can help me combine all of my social media accounts into one place. One place to find my Twitter timeline, Medium, Facebook, etc etc etc.

Why is this so hard? Years ago when IMing was the thing there was Trillium. I remember America OffLine spent a huge amount of effort trying to break it. As quickly as it was broken it was fixed.

Are the social media companies deliberately trying to shut these multi-service clients down? Keep them from even starting?

“Why would you want such a thing?” Simple. Having to use multiple clients is frustrating. The Twitter app for Windows 10 sucks major ass.

So far I’ve tried a couple. Sobees immediately got tossed — it requires Adobe Crash and I don’t want that hacker’s wet dream shitware on my machine.

Yoono looked promissing — but I can’t get it to connect to Facebook. And browsing their knowlege base this looks like a recurring issue over a period of years for people.

Beyond that the pickings are slim to none. Unfortunately I don’t have the skills to program this sort of thing myself or I would. Surely though, it can’t be that hard for someone to write this sort of thing.

Or is it really that the social media companies are delberately sabotaging efforts like this?

PS — anyone with suggestions that don’t require Adobe Crash/Air or Oracle SLOPa feel free to tell me. I’m willing to give them a try.
