SSMA offers recommended details, but ultimately the designer/structural engineer must design attachment method.

International Conference of Building Officials

ICBO (International Conference of Building Officials) is a legacy code which is now preceded by the IBC developed by the International Code Council (ICC).

International Building Code

IBC 2012 Section 2211.4 Wall stud design requires wall studs to be designed in accordance with either AISI S211 or AISI S100.

The Steel Stud Manufacturers Association (SSMA) 2015 Product Technical Guide as well as ESR-3064P complies with the 2015, 2012, 2009 and 2006 IBC and 2010 California and Florida Building Codes for both structural and nonstructural products.

SSMA Code Compliant Details

These are the recommended SSMA details (ICC compliant) but ultimately the designer/structural engineer must design attachment method.
