GoFundMe Teams Up with Tough Mudder and Venture Endurance Series
We have seen the community of runners, cyclists, and endurance athletes continue to grow over the last few years, with more Americans discovering and falling in love with the sport while gyms were closed. These athletes inspire us as they are not only dedicated to miles and months of training, but are actively giving back to their communities. According to Ventures Endurance, runners are 1.7x more likely than the general population to engage in charitable initiatives.
As this community comes together again to test strength, endurance, and their commitment to personal goals, our hope is to make it easier for runners, walkers, cyclists, and anyone participating in an endurance event to help causes important to them. This is why GoFundMe is joining Tough Mudder and The Ventures Endurance Series as the official fundraising sponsor — fully integrating fundraising as participating athletes rally their communities towards a common cause.
Athletes participating in any of Tough Mudder’s nearly 20 events this year are encouraged to start a GoFundMe to maximize their impact as they complete one of the most physically demanding challenges in endurance sports. Fundraisers by Tough Mudder participants can be found on this landing page. GoFundMe will also spotlight participants who have overcome incredible challenges and who are inspiring others to pay it forward as part of a “Why We Mudder” series.
Partnering with Ventures Endurance, participants in this year’s RAGBRAI ride (The Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa) — the nation’s largest, recreational cycling event convening 20,000 riders covering more than 400 miles of the state of Iowa — will have the option to start a GoFundMe as they sign up for the ride to benefit an organization important to them. And to make it easier to say thank you to each of the host towns of RAGBRAI, donations to the RAGBRAI Community Fund will be equitably distributed by GoFundMe.org to each town’s charities — so you can donate in one place to support each of these communities! You can find select fundraisers started by RAGBRAI riders on a centralized landing page. This fundraiser creation option at signup will also be integrated into future Ventures Endurance events including the Santa Rosa and Detroit Marathon.
