‘Blockhchain incubators’

The first week of June is really packing a powerful punch in the Crypto World. On the 5th of June 2018, the Blockstarter Team officially launched in Johannesburg South Africa. We are seeing a major shift in that while this sphere has been dominated by Western and Asian markets, this exciting development increases Africa’s footprint in the cryptocurrency space.

Who are they and what do they do?

Blockstarters are focused on working with start-ups in blockchain and cryptocurrency by offering th following:

Co-working office space: they take you under their wing to ensure that you are cultured in the required systemic procedures of your business. Getting a successful start to your business greatly increases the likelihood of success.

Market access: drawing eyes to your business and bringing awareness to your project is never an easy task. The ability to access an existing network of “mentors, investors and partners” means immediate visibility.

Collaboration: you are able to share ideas of your project which will refine your business model

Events & Hackathons: by being part of an active community, you are able to build and maintain your own network.

All these services constitute a well-oiled machine that can catapult cryptocurrency/blockchain startups into success.

Giovanni Lesna-Maranetto and Tawanda Kembo

Present at the launch itself was the renowned Giovanni Lesna Maranetto: Fintech entrepreneur and strategist. He is also on the advisory board of Goldma, which is the first cryptocurrency in Zimbabwe.

One of the featured speakers was Tawanda Kembo, co-founder of Golix, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in Zimbabwe. In his presentation, he emphasized Zimbabwe’s need and readiness for cryptocurrencies.

As “South Africa’s first blockchain hub and business incubator”, the level of support Blockstarters stand to provide the industry speaks volumes in terms of their desire to build, facilitate and advance this medium within the region, and throughout the world as evidenced by their network: “Our network reach extends as far as Silicon Valley and Shanghai.” Blockchain and cryptocurrency are not brand new concepts to the African continent, but there is a lot yet to be tapped into, explored and brought to fruition. As a team we are excited to see what heights Blockstarters reach within this space.
