I agree with your assessment on the lack of development of characters. The show needed to give more substance to these characters so people could relate to them more. I’m not sure, though, if network cable is the best medium for the show since the younger generations don’t seem to watch it as much. Perhaps, of this aired on Hulu/Netflix/Amazon with longer seasons (minimum 12 episodes per) people could effectively binge watch and become hooked.
