Why Elon Musk is doomed to failure at relationships

Yes, everyone’s heard about Elon Musk, the entrepreneurial genius behind Tesla and SpaceX, and his five other companies. We’ve read about his 18 hour work days and sleeping on factory floors in his fight to make Tesla profitable. Like many people, I assumed (wrongly as it turns out) that Elon was your typical introverted genius, devoting every hour of every day to his technological endeavors and living a life without intimate relationships.

In the last few months of 2020, Elon Musk’s personal life has suddenly made the news! On May 4, 2020, he had a baby boy with the Canadian indie/pop musician, Grimes. Many people, myself included, were surprised to learn that the new baby is in fact his sixth child. In July 2020, during the Amber Heard libel trial, we learnt that Elon Musk started a relationship with Amber Heard shortly after she broke up with Johnny Depp. The apparent disconnect between the public and the private man made me curious to learn more about Musk’s personal life.

Musk was born in 1971 in Pretoria, South Africa. He has a brother, Kimbal, and a sister, Tosca. As a child, his parents were busy with their work and he was often left alone at home with a housekeeper.
