About six months ago I launched Muun, to help you manage your coworking space. I thought I had a good shot at it, with simple, but elegant features, like inviting new users, assigning desks, add subscriptions and more. But a couple of months in, it occurred to me that there is quite some competition in this space with some amazing features and already a loyal userbase. Done my research well, right?
Being a solo-founder, it would be two full-time jobs to get even remotely close to the competition. What else could I do? After some thinking, talking and listening to early beta users, I found that the community is the essential part for any coworking space — the part they struggle with (to do it well).
It would be two full-time jobs to get even remotely close to the competition.
So instead of building a set of tools for coworking spaces, I took this one essential part and made it better, more versatile and added some surprising elegant twists to it.
Muun is now “Automation software for your community”.
It revolves around the idea of a public member directory. A beautifully styled overview of your members, showing who they are, what they do, what they are looking for and what they are offering. Members can sign themselves up, or you can invite them.
No matter if you use the member directory on your own Muun subdomain, WordPress plugin or JS snippet, you can fully customise the style, branding, order and who is listed.
You can fully customise the style, branding, order and who is listed on your member directory.
If you use Slack as your community’s communication tool of choice, you’d be happy to know that with Muun new members are automatically added to your team. Already using Slack with your community and want to use Muun (of course you do!), you can import all existing Slack users into Muun. If you wish so, all your users will receive an email about this.
About informing your users, every (invite, welcome) email you send is fully customisable. Regularly update your members by sending a newsletter? Your member’s email addresses are automatically pushed to your MailChimp account. Other providers are coming soon too.
These are just the start. Over the coming period there will be many more great new features coming. I got some great ideas, I can’t wait for you to try them. Keep an eye out on our Twitter account.
