Why it’s better than any bot.

Today, Google released Gboard. To say the least, I’m incredibly bullish on this effort and I actually think this can blow any bot out of the water. A move like this one has all the benefits of bots and also avoids some of the biggest cons about them. Win-win situation.

First off, I’d argue that the overall goal of any bot (or keyboard) is to provide two things to users: utility and convenience. Tools like these are here to help us, and they need to be easier to use than existing solutions. Now, the key here is that the best keyboards are able to provide these two things within and beyond the realm of typing. That’s to say, not only do they make it easier to actually type but they also provide you with other useful things that you may need right within the conversation. …
