Last February, Telus and Contentful organized a hackathon in which the first place prize was a trip to Berlin to visit the Contentful offices.
Our team developed a UI extension to embed A/B testing and personalization into Contentful in order to allow content practitioners to make data-driven decisions into their workflow.
After presenting our final product, we were selected as the winning team. It was a great honour.
Fast forward six months I am writing this blog post after spending one marvelous week in Berlin.
Berlin is a city that is hard to describe. Everybody I knew who had gone mentioned to expect the unexpected. In that sense, I tried not to have any expectations and simple enjoy every single minute of it.
It turned out to be the right approach. The whole city lives for the moment. While the rest of Western civilization is busy taking selfies and documenting every single moment, Berliners barely have their phones out. They are present in the moment, living each day like it’s their last.
Apart from the culture shift, history in Berlin runs deep. It was only thirty years ago that the Berlin wall was knocked down, uniting East and West Berlin. Throughout our exploration one could feel and see the influence of the Berlin Wall in the architecture, the drawings and the food.
