If you’re reading this, you have the esteemed pleasure of being formally introduced to Wanda a.k.a. Good Minds #5300! She says hello:

In October we’re going to fractionalize Wanda in partnership with Nibbl as a way to press into 3 themes that we’re interested in as a project: digital identity, CC0 licensing, and making NFTs accessible to people.

On the digital identity front there’s just something unique about collective ownership. It’s become clear over the past two years that communities can form around different NFT collections (see Bored Apes), and sub-communities can even form around specific traits sometimes too (see Hoodie CryptoPunks). We want to explore the idea that shared identity can be forged among people who co-own a piece of a single NFT, namely Wanda. This has been done before of course (see Bobu in the Azuki collection) but we feel there are new and interesting ways we can explore this design space.

One of our goals with the Wandaverse (i.e. Wanda and related activities) is to push forward the conversation around CC0 licensing. Creative Commons they said. Blockchain-native IP they said. And yet, while many people have now heard the term CC0, most are left wondering what that really means in practice slash don’t know how to act on it. There are some exceptions around CrypToadz, Nouns and Loot, of course, but the list isn’t long yet.

What we want to do with Wanda is normalize people having a shared connection to a single image and character as a way to get them to engage and create derivative content that uses Wanda as a starting point. While we have some specific plans for Wanda… as she gains traction and awareness spreads, we hope that drives other people to come up with their own ideas for her, too.

Alright, onto the accessibility point. The crypto world is currently small and we would love if the things we do with Good Minds could be a way new people encounter this space. Our contention is that offering newcomers a way to flirt with crypto and mess around without having to pay is a strong way to onboard them. See the success of Coinbase Earn from 2019 onward for example. So, we’re doing this for free, in two ways. First, holders of Good Minds NFTs will be dropped a fraction for free, and second there will be several ways for curious folks to get allowlisted for the drop without having to pay a cent. More details can be found at the end of this post.

As we move forward here, we see Wanda becoming a core character in the Good Minds universe. She will be an ambassador for the collection as we continue our goal of being Ethereum’s friendly, neighbourhood NFT collection. Even though we have ideas with respect to how the Wandaverse evolves, what we’re most excited about is seeing where our community’s creativity leads us as we build this bridge and walk on it together.

Now, onto the details. In a few weeks, Wanda will be going on an adventure over to Polygon for fractionalization. Once she makes it over the bridge into less gas intensive pastures, we will fractionalize her into 3000 pieces.

How do people get one?

-Everyone who owns a Good Minds NFT by October 1st at 14:20pm UTC will be allowlisted & dropped a Wanda fraction.

-Holders of Kettlebells and 1/1s will receive 2 fractions of Wanda with the intention that they would give one away to a friend or family member who is new to crypto.

-Everyone who writes or purchases a Good Minds option on Hook Protocol before October 1st at 14:20pm UTC will be added to the allowlist as well. More information on our partnership with Hook can be found here.

-For those who don’t have any money to spend on one of our NFTs, fear not! We’re going to have a way for anyone to qualify if they help us with our aesthetic rarity rankings on Poprank. Everyone who connects their wallet and plays 250 rounds of the Good Minds Poprank ranking game (link here) by October 1st at 14:20pm UTC will be allowlisted. More information on our partnership with Poprank can be found here.

-Finally, we’ll be setting aside several hundred Wanda fractions for partner projects (including Nibbl), and some will remain in the team’s possession to give away as part of future Good Minds initiatives.

Important note: no fractions will be made available for sale, they will exclusively be gifted by us to people who meet the above requirements. This is an art and digital identity experiment, not an investment vehicle.

For those who are are so inclined, more information on fractionalization in general and how Nibbl works specifically can be found here and here.

We’re excited to see how the NFT world receives Wanda over the coming weeks and months! If you have any questions, as always, please feel free to reach out to us on Twitter.
