When I started graduate school, one of my first mathematical physics classes was in covariant and contravariant tensors. A important topic, but one filled with confusing and almost-similar detail. Looking at them at home I realized there was a wealth of patterns present, and that the detail really was simple once the patterns were seen. I brought a single page of analysis into class and the teacher seemed overjoyed. He gave a copy to each of us as a key to understanding tensors.
