Great article, Gayle. I’m self-taught from way back. Been doing web development for 15 years now and started 3 tech companies. Never got a CS degree.
But as time went on, I regretted not having the knowledge that comes from a CS degree, as there are jobs I would’ve wanted that required the knowledge. I bypassed the code schools and learned it on my own, yet again. Perhaps not the best idea, but I learned a ton in the process nonetheless.
I just started the “Moderate” section of Cracking the Coding Interview.
Been studying full-time for 8 months the Google software engineer interview: https://medium.com/@googleyasheck/why-i-studied-full-time-for-8-months-for-a-google-interview-cc662ce9bb13
It was time to level up!
