Don’t confuse People!!!

You worked so hard to get people to engage in your Website or Application. A sign-up form is a must-have as part of your strategy for acquisition and retention.

Sign-up forms allow customers to ‘sign up’ to receive more information about your business and stay up-to-date on your company’s latest products and services.

And convert them into a valuable customer, these are some tips that help you to create better sign up forms

1.Top- Aligned labels

The top-aligned labels are the most used form design and it works great for collecting basic information from the users like name, gender, and age.

Top-aligned labels really work well if you are asking general information about your users. And top-aligned labels are not suitable to collect a lot of information from your users.

2.Single column

The major problem in multiple columns is that your users confused about which field should fill first and it leads to taking more time for completion of the form and it slows down the process.

On the other hand the single column, all are in a straight line and it takes less time for completion of the form. So don’t use multiple columns in your design.

3.Separate placeholders

Don’t use placeholders’ text as labels because once the user clicks on the box the text disappears and it creates confusion to the users what to fill on that box and also some people assume that the field was prefilled and may ignore it. Always use separate placeholders and it gives better user experience.

4.Placeholders

Placeholder text, located inside a form field, is an additional hint, description, or example of the information required for a particular field and it guides the user what should fill in a particular box in a friendly manner. and it avoids mistakes and saves time for the users.

5. Active Fields

Always highlight the active fields then only users will get to know where they are and what should they want to fill in that box without any confusion.

6. Field length

For example, if you are collecting zip code details from the users and usually the zip code takes 6 characteristics length and you are giving 10 characteristics, this could confuse the user, and also it’s not looking good in user perspective. so always, provide only the required length in your boxes.

7. Avoid Dropdowns

While drop-downs may seem like a good way of housing content in forms they actually cause a lot of issues. Interacting with dropdown menus on mobile and the desktop is a multi-step process often requiring more effort than necessary.
