Haoreima Sampubi (alias Haoreibi Shampubi) is a goddess who’s associated with the creation and destruction, as she has the power of both the creation and the destruction of the heaven and the earth at a single time.

Generally, she’s portrayed as a lady, always associated with the basket, full of fruits and vegetables, depicting the sources of energy of every living beings in the world.

In ancient legends, she’s considered a divine form of goddess Leimarel Sidabi, the supreme mother earth goddess. In other legends, she’s considered to be an incarnation of goddess Panthoibi, and goddess Nongthang Leima in other legends.

In mythical history, she’s a tribal lady from the hills, who came down to the plains, to meet her lover. However, she failed to unite her lover and died. Her tortured soul, later, turned into a divine spirit.

One of the significant sacred shrines dedicated to her is in the famous “Kakching Garden”, in Kakching district, in Manipur.
