The Train
Life is like a journey on a train,
with its stations,
with its changes of routes and
with its accidents.
“Chooo Chooo!” We hear the train call.We board this train, with our parents beside us.The train departs and your journey begins. You will feel it go slow at first and at every passing station you will ask your parents, “Are we there yet?” And they will reply us, “Soon my dear, soon.”
But time goes by,other passengers board the train, many of whom will be significant — our siblings, friends, children and even the love the of our life. You soon realize how full your carriage is.
Many will get off during the journey and leave a permanent vacuum in our lives. Many will go unnoticed that we wont even know they were seated beside you.
We believe that our parents will always travel this journey with us.However at one station our parents get off the train, leaving us alone on this journey. At first you feel uncomfortable with this emptiness in your carriage but eventually you realize that this is how the journey unfolds.
This journey will be full of laughter, sorrow, fantasies, expectations, hellos and goodbyes.
As you travel longer on the train, you ask yourself “How do I make myself comfortable in this train?” A good journey is about helping, loving, having a good relationship with all your co-passengers and most importantly making sure that we give our best to make their journey and your journey a memorable and comfortable one.
Now the big mystery of this journey is, “At which station will I get off from?”
But does it really matter? As long as we know that throughout this train journey we live in the best way — adjust, forget, forgive and give the best of what we can offer.
Why you may ask? When the time comes for us to leave our seat,we should leave behind a comfortable and beautiful carriage for those who will soon board the train and continue to travel on this train.
To all my family and friends, thank you for making my journey a comfortable and memorable one so far :)
“I’ll tell you a riddle.“You’re waiting for a train, a train that will take you far away. You know where you hope this train will take you, but you don’t know for sure. But it doesn’t matter. How can it not matter to you where that train will take you?”
