The advertisement I chose was by Totinos pizza rolls. This ad begins with a young high school boy, dressed for a formal dance(possibly homecoming) is waiting in the living room for his date to be ready to leave. While waiting his dates father is sneering at him, clearly giving him the pressure to be a smart, and safe date for his daughter. When his date emerges from the top of the stairs, a microwave sounds a bell, and the wonderful Totinos pizza rolls are now ready. Need to Achieve is most likely the need to achieve technique and uses Freud’s emotional ideas.
While the young man is waiting, it is as if he is trying to please the father of his date. It seems difficult as her father seams very cold to wanting to befriend him. But the achievement in this situation is his date walking down the steps and as his face lights up, you can see not only does he have a date, but pizza rolls as well. I mean, American Dream here folks.
The add was geared mainly torwads young people, or most likely those who have been in the same shoes. I know it caught my eye, as I have been in a similar situation. Young people can relate to this and maybe see that pizza rolls could make it better.
