I love your writing, but I have to say that my experience with scary movies is much more limited. When I was about six we visited my grandmother’s house for Halloween and there was some movie on the TV about an island where the radiation made all the animals into giants, including some poor dude who had been stranded there a few years earlier, and was now like 30 feet tall. I have no clue what the title may have been, but I watched it.
Then at about two in the morning, I woke my parents, crying because I was scared and couldn’t sleep. That pretty much spelled the end of scary movies for me until I went to college.
There the scariest movie that I recall was Play Misty for Me with Clint Eastwood. Insane jealousy is still a scary theme. And since then it just hasn’t been a genre that I have bothered with. But I LOVED reading about your memories, even if I never saw the movies.
