Why I love UF J-School

As a part of my Social Media Management class I was required to create an infographic. I could choose from five different topics and modify those topics to something I found interesting. One of the topics was why I love @UF College of Journalism and Communications.

As I began to do the research for UF J-School I realize all over again why I chose to attend UF, which made making the infographic even easier. Reasons I chose UF J-School included opportunities, faculty and staff, clubs and organizations, alumni, and the variety of courses.

Through my time at UF all of the reasons I chose this school have also become all the reasons I love this school. As I continue my undergrad at UF I realize why the J-School is nationally ranked.

Throughout my time here at UF I’ve had a plethora of classes to choose from, which have helped me narrow down a career path in public relations. I have also become a part of organizations such as, the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and the Association for Women in Sports Media (AWSM). These organizations have helped me network and even helped me obtain internships.

The faculty and staff is amazing at the J-School. With professors such as, Mike Foley, Jon Roosenraad and Eric Esterline, they have helped me improved my writing and continue to grow in my career aspirations. The alumni at UF J-school is also amazing. Through organizations and classes the majority of speakers are alumni from UF J-school. The alumni are also willing to give out their contact information so that you can network with them.

The last thing I love about J-School is that it has a lot of opportunites to choose from. The Innovation News Center and the Agency are two opportunities that students can apply for. These opportunities allow students to gain real world experience, so that they have a better chance in the real world.

For those who are applying to UF and are interested in public relations, journalism, advertising and telecommunications I highly recommend applying. It will be one of the best decisions you’ll make. #ItsGreatUF
