A GLL woman is to you…
Sophisticated, confident, sassy, elegant, strong and true to herself.
What is it you loved about your GLL gown and accessories?
I adored so many things about my gown and accessories from GLL. There are so many stunning gowns to choose from, but I ended up with the Megan gown because it ticked all of my boxes. The gown was so comfortable and easy to wear — it hugged in all the right places and the gorgeous open back was on my dream list. The detail in the lace is so pretty, especially when the train is stretched out. It fit me like a glove and also photographs beautifully. I also wore the Tribe anklets as I ended up going barefoot to my wedding, and I wore the Unreal Dream Faux Fur jacket to keep me warm at our Santorini clifftop wedding. I have also worn the jacket a million times since the wedding and it was a must-have on the night!
Did you go to a GLL showroom or purchase your gown online? Tell us about this experience.
I was initially drawn to the gowns after seeing them all over social media, but ended up purchasing a different dress that I tried on in Sydney. With only about 6 weeks to go before my wedding, I freaked out and realised that the gown that I had purchased was not what I wanted. I went straight to the GLL website and spoke to a stylist after narrowing down my search to the STUNNING Megan gown. I was really uncertain about buying a wedding dress online without trying it on or feeling and seeing the fabric quality, but after talking through sizes etc with my stylist, I had purchased the gown by that afternoon. It arrived beautifully packaged in a gorgeous box, with a handwritten note which was lovely. The quality of my gown was incredible and the fabric was so soft and dreamy. Although I didn’t get to go in to a showroom (which I was so upset about because they look breathtaking), I still feel like I had the ‘bridal’ experience and was looked after just as well as any customer in person. The service I received was unparalleled.
Describe your wedding day look…
I wanted my wedding day look to mirror my personality and style. I wanted to wear something effortlessly elegant, and my gown more than delivered on that!
How did he propose?
My hubby proposed to me on the beach where we had our first kiss. He left me 100 red roses on our bed with a note to meet him at our spot. As I was walking towards him, he was so nervous that he just blurted out ‘Will you marry me’ before I even reached him! Before I said yes, I reminded him to get down on one knee and then of course accepted. It was very sweet and very much ‘us’.
What was your goal for your wedding / what was the most important aspect to you?
For us, the most important part of the day was to enjoy ourselves and not let anyone else take over our day. As we both come from huge families, we decided to get married in Santorini (my husband is Greek) with just our closest friends and family there. We had 12 guests on the day, and it was perfect. In the best way possible, it almost didn’t even feel like a wedding. It was beautiful and stress free, and all about the love.
The funniest moment on the day was…
We got married on a clifftop in Santorini, and there were A LOT of stairs. I’m hopeless in heels, so decided to go barefoot to avoid breaking any bones on my wedding day. As I was about to walk in to the venue, a huge gust of wind came and smashed 4 vases of flowers which were at the alter. I had to stand outside for 10 minutes while they swept up all the glass, otherwise it would have been a blood bath!
What was the most stressful part to planning?
Initially, the most stressful part of the planning was trying to please everyone. Coming from huge families, we decided that it was going to be too hard to please absolutely everyone, so we decided to get married overseas and just do what would make us happy, rather and accommodating to everyone else. At the end of the day, it was our wedding and I wouldn’t change a thing.
Any top beauty/health/fitness or wedding preparation advice that you can share…
Stress less! As we got married overseas, we made sure to arrive in the country a week before the wedding to get over any jetlag etc. My skin also does not agree with flying, so we made sure when we arrived we would have enough time to settle in and get back to normal before the big day.
Any last advice or words of wisdom that you can share…
If you feel beautiful, you will look beautiful. Focus more on the marriage rather than the wedding.
