3 Essential Factors to Consider while Buying Pool Tables
Buying pool table is almost equal to an investment. The reason behind this is the fact that pool tables cost a lot of money. But professional tables are of a much superior quality as compared to pool tables bought for recreational purposes. The tables bought for recreational purposes are invariably of the quality which is durable but will not give you the best finish. The ones which are bought for professional reasons will obviously be of a much better quality since it is being used for proper matches. There are a few factors one needs to consider before purchasing a pool table. They are:
• The size of the respective room in which you intend to place the table. It needs to big enough.
• The budget needs to be kept in mind. There are a lot of tables in variety of ranges thus it is your choice as to which one you would want to buy.
• The purpose of the table for which you intend choosing is also a priority reason which you should keep in mind.
There are certain aspects which you need to keep in mind before pinning down on one particular option. These are:
• The Budget: — This is extremely important since it will be the decisive factor behind the quality and standard of the table which you purchase. Tables from low price range generally have a playing surface which is made of particle board. The ones which are of higher quality or which are mediocre in quality as well have a slate playing surface which is definitely much better in quality. But what one needs to remember is that in order to be economically stringent, you should not compromise on the longevity factor. Low ranging tables will only last for few years whereas a table with a high quality will serve you for a lifetime.
• The quality of the material which forms the surface of the table is also very important. Whether you want slate synthetic slate, honeycomb or particle board, all will depend on your choice. Slate is the best option since it is the most durable material. But having said that, it is also the most expensive option. The other options in the likes of honeycomb, synthetic slate etc. do not have a longevity factor associated with them. The main problem with the surfaces which do not have slate is that they warp, with the gradual wear and tear. But a slate surface will remain intact even with the passage of a considerable amount of time.
• While buying pool table, you also have to choose the material which you want the rails, frame and bumpers to be of. The best option in such a case would be wooden frames since they are the most durable and long lasting. Particle board material is definitely the other choice but again it is not durable. It is the best choice if you are going in for a recreational table. The fabric on them may need to be changed from time to time. Professional tables should mandatorily have rubber cushions but if the recreational table may have synthetic cushions as well.
Legs:-
The legs of the table should necessarily be of pure wood. How you carve it is dependent on your choice but the material should be definitely wood.
Frame:-
The frame may be of pure wood or MDF. MDF frames are comparatively cheaper but ultimately serve the purpose of holding up the board almost similarly.
Slate:-
Slate is the most integral part of the pool table. It is available in 1 or 3 pieces. 1 is rare, 3 is more common. But going for the latter option is the best since it allows proper leveling off the table.
So, while buying the pool table, the aforesaid points should be taken into consideration to make a successful deal.
