Purpose and Target

In the present, there are a lot of patients who are unable to prevent themselves from accidents prior to steep slopes and uneven surfaces. In case of caretakers who are not available enough to look after their patients the whole day and the patients have to move around in their wheelchair alone and cases where patients accidentally fall off from steep areas or slip on slippery surface, this might harm the patients. Our project got the inspiration from patients who aren’t able to get up from bed due to their bad health condition and can’t help themselves, therefore we design the sensor to prevent accidents from steep and slippery areas and the wheelchair has the ability to prevent itself from slipping down a slop area. The purpose of this ‘Willcare Wheelchair’ is to offer convenience to people who uses it and to make importance of technology.

Inspiration

We got the inspiration from patients with wheelchair accidents from steep slopes and uneven surfaces. In case of slips from steep slopes ,any cause injuries to the patients, therefore our team came up with installing a sensor onto the wheelchair in order to stop when a slope is detected as we have programmed it in the code system (MakerPlayground)

Mechanics

When the sensor detects a slope that may possibly lead to accidents , the wheelchair will send a warning signal and the motor will start functioning by pulling the brakes up making the wheelchair stop in order to prevent any accidents from happening to the patient. The patient may decide when the wheelchair should continue moving by pressing the button that was programmed to let go of the brakes.

Purpose

  1. To prevent accidents on happening to patients while in use of the wheelchair.
  2. To solve the problem of the less amount of caretakers who moves patients around in their wheelchair.
