Curse of Strahd: Session Seven
Summary
The heroes waste no time in launching into an attack on the old hag who they just saw abduct a small child from a house across the road. Their weapons definitely draw blood but she seems to not pay it much mind as she launches her own attack, a foul sorcery that places all but the elf into a deep sleep.
She soon casts another spell and completely disappears, along with her cart. The elf knight wakes his companions and they begin questioning the couple about the hag, the bread they are eating, and of course why they would allow their child to be taken.
The bread it seems is a quite powerful intoxicant that transports whoever eats any to a paradise in their minds. It seems to have a strong pull, as the war priest is soon under its spell as well.
The heroes eventually promise to find the couple’s child and take their leave to continue their search for an inn.
They eventually find the Blood of the Vine Inn and manage to talk to the owners, three beautiful Vistani women who tell them to search out Madame Eva in her encampment outside of the village, as she has answers for the questions they have regarding what they need to do to get back to Faerun.
After a good, and for some, a great night’s sleep, they set out to find Madame Eva. She has many followers drinking around a bonfire who are friendly to the heroes and welcome them. They point the way to Eva’s tent where they finally meet her. She already knows all their names and offers to tell their fortunes. The heroes learn four crucial things, and that one more is currently out of Eva’s sight. The first three are treasures that will help defeat Strahd. The fourth is a powerful ally they should seek out that will surely aid them in Strahd’s defeat. Eva is also very generous to grant some small treasures of her own to aid the heroes, along with a map of the entire land of Barovia.
Current Position
Having met with Eva, the heroes survey the map and ponder where to go next.
